Change blog title size Squarespace

For some reason, Squarespace’s default setting when it comes to blog titles seems to be the bigger the better.

If you don’t change it, Squrespace will automatically set the size of your blog post title and it automatically sets them to be huge. And I mean, huge. If your title is more than about 5 words, it can end up spanning 3 or 4 lines and taking up a huge amount of space on the page.

Not only does this just look totally ridiculous, it’s also pretty rubbish for your user experience too.

Time after time clients have asked me if we can make the size of blog post titles smaller so I figured it was time I talked everyone through the process.

What you don’t want to do is change this. A H1 heading is crucial for both users and search engines to understand what the content of the page is about, and taking out a H1, although making the title smaller, will impact your SEO.

Instead, select the Style section and choose Custom from the drop down menu.

Here you’ll see a slider to change the title size. Play around with this until you find a size on the slider scale you’re happy with for your title, hit save and you’ll have changed the title size of your blog post.
