Squarespace quick save | How to save your progress without leaving editor
Squarespace has rolled out what I personally believe is one of the best and most useful updates the platform has launched for a long time.
What is it? A new quick save feature that allows you to save your progress without having to leave the editor window, that’s what.
In the current version of Squarespace when you hit save, you’ll be taken out of edit mode and back to your main dashboard, something that becomes a bit of annoyance when you’re working on a build.
Currently the new quick save feature is only available to Squarespace Circle Members but the good news is, you can easily become a circle member by building three websites and having them all on paid plans.
For non-circle members I expect this update will roll out to everyone in the next few months, so you shouldn’t have too long to wait to be able to use it.

To enable the quick save feature as a circle member, you need to head to settings > circle labs and turn on Frame Toolbar Save & Exit.
This enables the quick save feature and means that when you’re in the edit dashboard and click save, nothing happens (well, other than saving your changes of course) and you can simply carry on editing.
Instead of automatically exiting you back to the main dashboard, an exit button will appear in the top left hand corner if you actually do want to navigate back.
The feature also displays a confirmation box if you try to exit edit mode without saving your changes, ensuring you don’t accidentally lose all of your hard work. This is particularly useful whilst you get used to the new system and ensures you don’t hit exit on autopilot, thinking you’re using the old save and exit button.
This is one of those Squarespace updates that not only has the potential to totally change the game when it comes to the usability of the platform, but also one that you just can’t believe wasn’t already in place.
