Do Squarespace Websites Require Backups And How to Do it
A lot of clients ask me if they can backup their Squarespace website.
I’ll cut to the chase, Squarespace does not back up your website. There’s no server holding previous versions of your site in case something goes wrong.
But there are some things you can do to ensure your website is backed up if you wish.

Want a framework for designing the perfect homepage?
The best option is to manually duplicate your website (it’s worth noting that if you’re a Squarespace Circle member, the duplicated site will get a 6 month free trial).
To make a backup, head to your main Squarespace dashboard click the three dots next to the website that you want to backup and select Duplicate from the drop down menu that appears.
This will duplicate your website in about 30 seconds or less.
What I then recommend doing is giving your duplicate a new title that includes the date it was made.
You can then periodically create new backups at your chosen timeframes e.g. every 2 weeks, every 3 months etc.
And that’s it, the easiest way to backup your Squarespace website.
