How to upload videos to a gallery on Squarespace

It’s a misconception that you can only add images to Squarespace galleries.

Whilst that is the case for gallery sections, it's not for gallery blocks. In gallery blocks you can add both images and videos.

Let's take a look at how to add a gallery block and how to add videos to a gallery on Squarespace.

Navigate to the edit dashboard for the page where your gallery will be displayed.

Find the section you want to add your gallery to (or add your section first if you need to) and then click ADD BLOCK to add your block.

From the menu that appears select Gallery. 

Position your block where you want it on the page and double click on it to edit it. In the panel that appears click the + icon in the bottom right hand corner and you’ll be presented with three options:

  • Search images

  • Upload images

  • Upload video

To upload a video select upload video and paste your video URL into the box that appears. It will automatically set the title and thumbnail, but you can change these here if you want to.

Hit save and your video will be added to the gallery.

Within the design tab of the block editor panel you can also play around with how your gallery is displayed, choosing from options such as grid and carousel layouts and the ratio of each image/video thumbnail.

Once you’re happy with how your gallery looks, hit save.
