How to Link a Squarespace Blog Post to an External URL

One request that I surprisingly get asked a lot by clients is to add blog posts to their on-site blogs that link to external URLs.

For example, if your business features in a press article or you guest post on another website, you may want to showcase this on your blog. And you want the articles/URLs to sit alongside your existing blog posts and, most important, to look the same.

Luckily, it’s a super simple and easy thing to do and I’m going to show you how.

Check out the YouTube video below 👇

Head to Website > Blog > Blog Content and add your new blog post as you usually would, giving the blog a title.

To showcase the external piece of content you need to head to the settings of the blog post.

View blog content Squarespace
Edit blog post settings Squarespace

Within the content settings page you’ll see a field for Source URL. This is where you need to add the URL of the page you want your post to link to.

Make sure you are adding the full URL e.g. https://bycrawford.com/ rather than just bycrawford.com. If you don’t use the full URL it won’t work.

Hit save and publish your blog post and hey presto, you’re done!

Super simple but a handy trick to know about if you want to showcase relevant third party content on your own blog.
